What kinds of events does LISOT run?

We run two types of event; practices on Long Island Sound and on the south shore of Long Island and on-the-water support for our racers at major regattas around the country

What do they cost?

The base cost of each event is shown on the signup page. We charge a per event fee to cover our expenses which are mainly coaching fees, insurance, and running and maintaining our coach boats. For events that are not local (travel regattas), we incur additional travel related coach expenses (airline tickets, meals and accommodation). We also strive to save a small amount of money from each event to buffer boat repair or replacement costs.

Can I sign up and then change my mind?

An event will confirm prior to the start date. Read the description of the event to see when. After an event confirms you will not be able to withdraw without incurring a cancellation fee ($30 for a practice and 50% of the cost for travel events). If you are waitlisted you are NOT guaranteed a spot. You will be notified if additional coaching can be arranged and you should attend.

Why cancellation fees?

There have been occasions when last minute cancellations have caused remaining attendees to shoulder an unfair burden of event costs. On several occasions we have incurred financial losses. In addition, in the case of traveling regattas, an inability to judge the number of participants correctly has caused our coach expenses to sometimes be higher than they need.

Why am I being asked for a credit card when I register?

Because we want to keep our costs as low as possible, we ask all registered families to give us a valid credit card to be held on file on a secure server. This will allow us to charge those who cancel from a practice or event

Please note that we will only charge your card for late cancellations, we still need cash payment at practices and regattas.
